We have several fully qualified instructors who teach from time to time at Chalybeate including Michael Evans and Mark Carr-Brown.
During the season we offer both tuition and courses, but before choosing a course or instruction, do just consider though what you are looking for, because they generally fall into three categories.
1. One to one tuition. A very expensive way to learn, and do you really want to be paying the instructor to stand watching whilst you practice something? But this is by far the best option for learning specific casting techniques or solving casting problems.
2. A basic course. Gives a good grounding in casting and tactics as well as a fun day out, catching fish in a safe and controlled environment.
3. Improver courses. An often much needed reminder of the basics before teaching you new skills to take you up to the next level whilst still having fun and catching fish.
We can also lay on special half days and or courses tailored for kids. A child’s first introduction to fishing of any kind is an important moment and should not be spoiled by bad weather, boredom or Dad merely showing off his own prowess. On our kids courses the emphasis is “have fun, learn a little and, above all, catch a fish.” Usually over a half-day, when the weather is clement and the fishing is at its easiest.
